As 2025 comes to an end, I’ve found myself properly reflecting on what Cold Case Inc has become and how far it’s come in a relatively short space of time.

What started as a single idea, to create immersive, realistic digital cold case investigations, has grown into something far bigger than I ever expected. Not because of flashy marketing or shortcuts, but because people chose to trust the experience, dive into the details, and commit their time to solving these cases properly.

That’s something I’ll always be grateful for.

Every person who plays a Cold Case Inc game is choosing to engage with something slower, more deliberate, and more demanding than most entertainment out there. These aren’t quick puzzles or surface-level mysteries. They’re built to reward patience, attention to detail, and critical thinking, and the fact that so many people are willing to invest in that means everything.

Building Cold Case Inc the Right Way

From day one, Cold Case Inc has been built differently.

These games are digital by design. Every file, message, image, and report exists for a reason. There are no hand-holding conclusions and no single moment where the truth is handed to you. The responsibility sits entirely with the player to analyse the evidence, question narratives, and decide what they believe actually happened.

That philosophy hasn’t changed, but the scope absolutely has.

Throughout 2025, the focus wasn’t just on telling new stories, but on expanding what a Cold Case Inc investigation could actually include. New systems. New formats. New layers of realism. Each release became a testing ground for ideas that pushed the platform forward.

The 2025 Case Files

This year saw the release of three major investigations, each one deliberately bringing something new to the table.

10-33 Officer Down was a significant step forward. It leaned heavily into police procedure, pressure, and conflicting accounts, forcing players to examine how authority, loyalty, and reputation can influence the truth and how easily official narratives can go unchallenged.

The Final Fare took a different approach. Quieter in tone, but no less complex, it relied on subtle inconsistencies, character motives, and details that were easy to miss if you weren’t paying close attention. It was a case built to punish assumptions and reward restraint.

Then came The Waters Edge, the most ambitious release to date. This case expanded far beyond traditional evidence folders, introducing a fully working in-game social media platform. It explored how perception, manipulation, and online narratives can shape an investigation just as much as physical evidence.

Each of these cases helped define what Cold Case Inc is becoming and what it’s capable of.

The Players, and What Comes Next

One thing I’m very conscious of is that Cold Case Inc doesn’t yet have a formal community space. Players experience these cases independently, forming their own conclusions, theories, and interpretations behind the scenes.

But that’s something I want to change.

As we move into 2026, one of the biggest goals is to start building ways for players to engage beyond the case files themselves, to discuss theories, challenge conclusions, and explore alternative interpretations together. The conversations already exist; they’re just scattered. Bringing them into one place feels like the natural next step.

Cold Case Inc has always been about thinking critically. A proper community built around that mindset could take the experience even further.

Looking Ahead: The Feinstep Files

Work is already underway on the next major episode: The Feinstep Files, set to release in Spring 2026.

This case is shaping up to be one of the most layered and challenging investigations we’ve ever created. It’s heavier in subject matter, more deliberate in how information is revealed, and designed to make players uncomfortable with easy conclusions.

It’s a case that will divide opinion, spark debate, and demand patience, exactly the kind of digital unsolved case files investigation Cold Case Inc was built for.

Beyond the Main Series

Alongside the core Cold Case Inc releases, there’s also a brand-new spin-off series of digital games being developed quietly in the background. These games are being built for a completely new platform, giving us the freedom to experiment, rethink structure, and explore investigations in ways we simply couldn’t before.

Nothing about this is rushed. The focus is on getting it right, building solid foundations that allow the experience to grow long-term.

Thank You

If you played a Cold Case Inc game in 2025 – thank you.
If you recommended one to someone else, thank you.
If you trusted an independent creator enough to give these cases your time, thank you.

2025 has been a year of growth, ambition, and confidence. 2026 is about refinement, expansion, and connection.

There are many more files to come.
