After months of building, refining, rewriting, and obsessing over every microscopic detail, The Waters Edge is officially live.
And for Cold Case Inc, this one is different.
This isn’t just another unsolved case file.
It’s the deepest, most interconnected investigation we’ve ever created, and the first to feature a fully functioning social media platform built solely for the game.
Welcome to Viewzr. Welcome to Langford-on-Wye. Welcome to The Water’s Edge… and the truth waiting beneath the surface.
The Waters Edge follows the disappearance of 27-year-old Lauren Miller, who vanished during a camping trip near the River Wye. Her phone is missing. And within hours, what begins as a simple missing-person call spirals into a web of secrets, lies, online harassment, grief, and misdirection.
Players will examine:
Every file is designed to feel authentic, the kind of evidence you’d genuinely expect to find in a real policing database. But what makes this case truly special is the digital world surrounding it.
To tell this story properly, we knew a simple screenshot wouldn’t cut it. The entire narrative leans on social interactions, old posts, hidden conversations, timestamps, relationship fractures, and digital footprints spanning over a year.
So we built Viewzr, a fully playable social media network created exclusively for The Waters Edge.
Every profile picture was crafted.
Every comment was debated.
Every argument, inside joke, and timestamp was placed with purpose.
Scrolling through Viewzr should feel real.
It should feel like you’re peering into the personal lives of five suspects and a victim, watching the case unfold not through exposition, but through behaviour.
It’s not just a feature.
It’s a breakthrough in how Cold Case Inc tells stories.
Although The Waters Edge is fictional, it reflects something very real: the weight that online spaces can place on people’s lives. In this case, we explore a community shaped by public posts, reactions, misunderstandings, and the invisible pressures that come with sharing your world on a screen.
Lauren Miller, an influencer with a growing audience, lived much of her life online. Her posts, comments, and interactions formed a digital shadow that others interpreted, and misinterpreted, in ways she never expected. The investigation shows how online identities can be magnified, twisted, or misunderstood, sometimes with devastating consequences.
The case also touches on a family grieving the loss of a young girl whose final months were shaped by the intensity of online attention. It’s a reminder that behind every username is a real person, often carrying things no one else can see.
With The Waters Edge, we wanted to highlight how digital footprints linger, how emotions spill into online spaces, and how easily a single moment can reshape the narrative for everyone involved. Social platforms can connect us, but they can just as easily distort the truth.
The Waters Edge took hundreds of hours of design, writing, rewriting, testing, and refining. Some examples of the microscopic detail players will uncover:
This case rewards players who love the craft of deduction.
Every detail connects. Nothing is wasted.
Cold Case Inc was built on the belief that interactive storytelling can still surprise people, that mystery games don’t need jump scares or cheap twists to be immersive, only truthful characters and meaningful clues.
The Waters Edge represents that philosophy at its peak.
We designed this case to make players:
It’s the closest you can get to solving a real investigation from your sofa.
Whether you’re a long-time Detective Club member or brand-new to Cold Case Inc’s online unsolved case files, this is one of the most complete mysteries we’ve ever released.
If you want a case that challenges you…

A Case Rooted in Tragedy and Detail
The Waters Edge follows the disappearance of 27-year-old Lauren Miller, who vanished during a camping trip near the River Wye. Her phone is missing. And within hours, what begins as a simple missing-person call spirals into a web of secrets, lies, online harassment, grief, and misdirection.
Players will examine:
- Realistic CCTV stills
- Forensic reports, including canine welfare tests
- Witness statements
- Digital message histories
- A full post-mortem summary
- Environmental photography
- A complete social network
- And key behavioural anomalies that hold the entire truth together
Every file is designed to feel authentic, the kind of evidence you’d genuinely expect to find in a real policing database. But what makes this case truly special is the digital world surrounding it.

The Social Media Pressure Behind the Story
Although The Waters Edge is fictional, it reflects something very real: the weight that online spaces can place on people’s lives. In this case, we explore a community shaped by public posts, reactions, misunderstandings, and the invisible pressures that come with sharing your world on a screen.
Lauren Miller, an influencer with a growing audience, lived much of her life online. A Case Built With Obsession – And It Shows
The Waters Edge took hundreds of hours of design, writing, rewriting, testing, and refining. Some examples of the microscopic detail players will uncover:
- CCTV cameras that only capture once per minute, creating natural gaps
- Cross-referenced alibis timed to the second
- Clues hidden in choice of phrasing, handwriting, and digital slang
- Forensic results that deliberately avoid “handing players the answer”
- Real-world geography threaded into the timeline
- Parallel motives designed to feel equally plausible
- A villain caught not by a single clue, but by the sum of many tiny ones
This case rewards players who love the craft of deduction.
Every detail connects. Nothing is wasted.
Why This Case Matters to Us
Cold Case Inc was built on the belief that interactive storytelling can still surprise people, that mystery games don’t need jump scares or cheap twists to be immersive, only truthful characters and meaningful clues.
The Waters Edge represents that philosophy at its peak.
We designed this case to make players:
- Feel the emotional weight of the victim
- Understand the motivations of every suspect
- Lose themselves in the authenticity of the environment
- And experience that “aha” moment when the full picture finally clicks
It’s the closest you can get to solving a real investigation from your sofa.
